A full IT department for less than one hire — predictable cost, measured response, no jargon.

Most Malaysian SMEs do not have an IT department. They have whoever is least busy — often the office manager or the owner's nephew — plus a supplier who appears when something is already broken. It works until the day it does not, and the bill for that day is always larger than the year of prevention would have been.

The honest arithmetic is that a managed contract usually costs less than one mid-level IT hire, and it does not take annual leave, resign, or know only the parts of your system it happened to build. What you are buying is not a person; it is a rhythm — things checked on a schedule, faults answered against a stated response time, and a written record of both.

Ryzen engineers on site — SME project delivery in Malaysia

The problems we hear

  • No IT staff — every fault lands on whoever is least busy
  • Unpredictable IT spend: nothing for months, then a crisis invoice
  • One ageing server everyone depends on and nobody backs up properly
  • Vendors who install and vanish

What we actually do for sme

A service desk that answers

A stated response time on priority incidents, tracked per ticket and reported — so "we called IT" has a timestamp attached rather than being a matter of opinion.

Backup you have actually restored

Three copies, two media, one off-site, and a restore test on a schedule. A backup nobody has restored is a hypothesis, and most SMEs are running one.

Security proportionate to a small business

Firewall rules that were reviewed, accounts that are removed when people leave, patches that get applied. Not an enterprise security programme — the ordinary housekeeping that stops most incidents.

Predictable spend

A contract instead of a series of crisis invoices, with hardware refresh planned far enough ahead to be a budget line rather than an emergency.

Your documentation, kept current

What you own, where it is, what it connects to and who the vendor is — maintained as things change, so you are never held hostage by one person's memory.

Common questions

We only have fifteen staff. Are we too small? No. Below roughly ten people a contract often is not worth it, and we will say so. Between about ten and a hundred is where a managed arrangement usually costs less than the problems it removes.

What does it cost? It depends on headcount, sites and what is already in place, so we quote after looking rather than publishing a number that would be wrong for you. The comparison to make is against one salary, not against nothing.

Do we get the same service as your large clients? The same SLAs, the same documented visits, the same reporting. That discipline is the product — it would not be worth running two standards.
