What Synology models does RYZEN recommend for SMEs?+

For small businesses (5–20 users), we typically recommend the Synology DS423+ or DS923+ — both offer excellent performance, expandability and Active Backup for Business at affordable prices. For larger deployments, we recommend the RS series rack NAS or SA series enterprise storage. RYZEN will assess your storage capacity, user count and backup needs before recommending a specific model.

Does Synology Active Backup require additional licences?+

No. Synology Active Backup for Business is completely free — no per-seat licensing fees. It comes included with your Synology NAS and supports unlimited PC, Mac, VMware, Hyper-V and Microsoft 365 backup. This is a major cost advantage over competitors like Veeam or Acronis for SMEs.

Can RYZEN migrate our data from Windows Server to Synology?+

Yes. RYZEN handles complete data migration from Windows Server shared folders, NAS devices or external drives to your new Synology NAS. We also migrate user accounts, permissions, mapped drives and configure workstations to connect to the new NAS — minimal disruption to your operations.

What RAID level should I use for my Synology NAS?+

It depends on your drive count and priorities. RAID 1 (2 drives): simple mirroring, good for small setups. RAID 5 (3+ drives): balanced storage efficiency and protection — most popular for SMEs. RAID 6 (4+ drives): tolerates 2 simultaneous drive failures — recommended for critical data. SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID) is also excellent for mixed drive sizes. RYZEN will advise during site assessment.
